Dimitrios Dimitriou background includes Doctorate in econometric modelling in transportation, MSc in Airports Planning and Management, MSc in Infrastructures Environmental Management, and Diploma (equivalent to 4 years BA and 1-year MSc) in Engineering (Transportation planning). He is Professor in management in transportation systems and supply chain at Department of Economics at Democritus University of Thrace (DUTh), Greece and Director of the Research Laboratory MaGBISE (Management, Governance, Business Intelligence, Strategy and Corporate Ethics in Infrastructure Operators, Networks and Supply Chain). His specialisation deals with large investment appraisal, project financing, project management, transport and supply chain economics, management performance, decision making, project development, strategic management, sustainable development and transportation planning.
He has more than 25 years’ experience in education and training providing courses in graduate and postgraduate programs in national and international universities; and training to professional associations and institutions as well. He is Associate Professor in Department of Economics, Democritus University of Thrace (DUTh), Greece, where he is delivering graduate and postgraduate courses: in graduate course in the modules: transport economics; risk assessment; decision theory and decision-making applications; in postgraduate courses he is contributing in 2 programs: (a) MBA postgraduate program, in which he is module leader on: decision support systems and management; risk management; and he is delivering courses on module of transportation and shipping; (b) MSc in Occupational health and safety (Dept. of medical services and health) delivering courses and seminars on area of health and safety management for transport companies and hospital infrastructure management. Additionally, in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, he is contributing in the MSc program in Hydrocarbon, in which he is module leader on modules: Environmental planning, impact analysis and risk assessment; Performance assessment and management; and in Hellenic Open University in the postgraduate program MBA (offered in English language) in module MBA61: management of people and organizations.
His research contribution includes research projects and publications to referred journals conferences and workshop. His research experience includes contribution in 20 research projects in which 4 as project leader. His research outputs has been published in a variety of scientific missions, including: 13 presentations in distinguished international events; 47 papers in peer review journals; 5 chapters in international books and 1 technical Greek book; 93 papers in international peer review conferences; 80 presentations and papers in international (45) and national (35) congress and workshops; and 25 presentations and papers in scientific seminars, events and professional institution events. In addition, he contributes to many scientific journal’s editions, editorial boards, scientific committees in international conferences and scientific missions.
Dimitrios professional truck record includes the occupation of executive management positions in sector of transport; delivery of dedicated studies; and consulting in a variety of infrastructure projects providing evidence of his expertise in fields of investments appraisal, economic impact analysis and effective management for authorities, organisations and enterprises, promoting a strong international profile in management, business economics, project financing and risk management with a specification in transport and energy sectors. In 2018 he awarded by the Professional Achievement Award in Greece by the British Council for the Study UK Alumni awards.
